Last chance to see the work of basketmaker Rachel Kirk in her studio in Abernethy. Rachel is a willow weaver who hand weaves willow baskets, sculptures, bird houses and bird feeders. I love experimenting with different colours of willow and a range of weaves to add texture and interest to my designs. I’m a firm believer that the functional should be beautiful too. At my studio, you’ll be able to see the tools of the trade, and learn more about the sustainability of willow and its preparation for weaving. I’ll be demonstrating willow basketry and sculpting techniques too, so pop by to chat about all things willow. While you’re here, you can take the chance to look around the beautiful village of Abernethy and its surrounding countryside which inspires my designs.
