May 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2024.
Seafield Farm, Achnamara, Lochgilphead, Argyll PA31 8PS.
You are invited to Seafield, Achnamara for a weekend exploring the beauty of bark in all its variety. We will mostly concentrate on willow bark: Stripping, Preparing, Coiling, Cordage and Weaving and anything else you can imagine doing with bark.
This is not a course but an informal opportunity for Scottish Basketmakers Circle members to get together and share skills, chat and food. You can come for a few hours, a day or the whole weekend. There is limited opportunity for self catering accommodation from Friday 3 May – Sunday 5 May.
You will need to bring food to share, any bark you may have, skills, ideas, books and any tools which may be useful such as knives, scissors and bark cutters although I have a supply of most of the items you will need. There will be supply of willow bark available for use.
BarkFest24 fee £10 per day, payable on booking.
Accommodation – single or double room in house, workshop or cottages, £25 per night. Bed linen provided, please bring towels. Limited availability.
Campervans welcome, £5 per night.
A selection of books from the SBC Library will be here so you can take the opportunity to return any books you may have borrowed and order specific books in advance.
