Basketmaking is one of the world’s oldest crafts, yet it continues to evolve in exciting and unexpected ways. Contemporary makers combine traditional weaving skills with innovative ideas, materials and forms, creating work that is both rooted in heritage and relevant to modern life.
Intertwined showcases the work of contemporary basketmakers whose distinctive approaches highlight the breadth and creativity of this evolving craft. Throughout the year, the Foyer Craft Showcases will feature a changing programme of makers, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the many ways basketry can be interpreted today. Through their individual use of materials, techniques and forms, each artist demonstrates how basketmaking continues to grow and innovate while remaining connected to its rich traditions.
