Join Hermione Toulson for this two day rush basketry workshop. 

You will learn how rush is harvested and prepared for weaving, and make your own shoulder bag/purse on a block/mould. This is a rare opportunity to weave with True Bulrush which has been hand harvested from the river by Hermione. We will explore a wide range of soft basketry techniques and a variety of side weaves.

There will be an option to add a leather shoulder strap (purchased on the day for an additional fee of £10), or to plait your own rush strap if time permits. The workshop is suitable for beginners, and those with some basket weaving experience.  

The course is taking place in The Nest at Whitmuir Farm Shop and Café – an excellent venue. Hot drinks will be provided. There is very good café and deli on site, although you are also welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
