Basket Making Beginners & Improvers with Janice Hall. In term 3 (4 sessions), there will be an introduction to ‘framed basketry’ where you will be able to make a shallow garden trug and small fruit platters. There will be scope for adding more colour or found materials into their weaving. This term is also suitable for new students who have not attended terms 1 or 2 but who would like to try weaving with willow to make simple framed baskets.

Basket Making Intermediate with Sandra Scholes. In the intermediate class, we will aim to build on the techniques learnt in the beginners class and begin to explore design and shape, looking at techniques to enable us to bring these elements into our baskets. To get the most from the intermediate class, students should have attended at least three terms of the beginners’ class or have gained basketry experience to enable them to create simple baskets independently.

Basketry – Self Help Group Fridays 10am to 1pm. This is an opportunity for experienced basketmakers to continue learning from and supporting each other and to practise new basketry techniques, perhaps focusing on a topic agreed at the beginning of term. There is no dedicated tutor for this group. You will need to prepare your own willow and other materials for each session. The group is suitable for more advanced basketmakers who are seeking motivation and an encouraging working environment from fellow basketmakers.
