Make a Willow Sunflower

15th March 2026.

Ladybank, Fife.

We invite you to step into the world of traditional craft with a 2.5-hour immersion into willow weaving with Katy Bremer. This session is designed to be the perfect introduction to the medium; because the project begins with a woven central disk, you will be learning the exact same techniques used to start a standard round basket. It’s a wonderful way to begin your basketry journey and understand the “bones” of the craft without the pressure of completing a full vessel.

Working with natural, pre-prepared willow, you will craft one large, classic sunflower. There is plenty of room for personal expression as you play with different varieties of willow to create color contrasts and choose between shaping soft, rounded petals or sharp, architectural points.

As we are working with organic materials, please keep in mind that these flowers are beautifully biodegradable. They can decorate your home and last indefinitely, or move out into the garden to weather the elements, where they will live in harmony with nature and eventually return to the earth.

1.30 to 4pm, £40. For more information and to book visit Eventbrite.
