With the origins of basketry deeply rooted in place, local basket weaver Helen Jackson takes us on a captivating experimental journey using an unlimited natural resource; plant fibres. With a depth of understanding only truly revealed by hand working each leaf, soft grass and rush, the artist takes us through the captivating stories, skills and techniques offered by these versatile fibres.

Helen Jackson – Baskets been practising basket weaving for over 12 years and uses traditional techniques of willow basketmaking whilst exploring new forms and ideas the material offers. She is a member of the the Scottish Basketmakers’ Circle (SBC), the Basketmakers’ Association (BA), the Heritage Crafts Association (HCA) and the Heckleburn Quines (HQ); an artist and makers’ collective based in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

Available to view in the The Barn Box Office during events and Thursday to Saturday 12-4pm 7th March until the end of June.
