17th December, 2023.
The Wash House, C.I.C, Glasgow.
oin Max and Vicky under The Canopy at The Wash House Garden and spend a mindful morning in the tranquil surroundings of the community garden, taking control of your own health, making fire cider and weaving Christmas stars.
Fire cider is a popular herbal folk preparation that is easy to make and boosts your immunity by stimulating digestion and warming us up on cold days with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral herbs. It is also packed with vitamins and minerals and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, from a warming drink to a splash in a soup or as a salad dressing. This is also the perfect Christmas gift for friends and family, the gift of health, food and medicine!
Basketry is an ancient crft, at least 10,000 years old. We’ll use some of these ancient, meditative techniques to weave willow stars, which also make perfect Christmas presents.
We’ll be serving up steaming mugs of chai and a tasty wild snack during the session and the fire pit will be blazing to keep us all toasty and warm. As well as taking away your own immune boosting jar of fire cider and beautiful handwoven star, you’ll also take away a recipe card to make more of your fire cider in the future.
Please note that although we shall be working under cover of The Canopy, this is essentially an outdoor event so dress appropriately for our Glasgow Winter.
