Ruthin, Denbighshire.
Basket making in the British Isles today is rich and diverse. A combination of knowledge, skills and practices, it encompasses a wide range of materials, forms, techniques and cultural influences. The Basketmakers’ Association’s Traditional Basketry Project (TBP), working in partnership with Heritage Crafts, strives to rescue, revive and retain skills and promote information about UK basketry traditions. This is now creating a central resource that can be learned from and used to inform and educate the current and next generation of basket makers.
This is the second exhibition of a 3-part exhibition series, the first was a part of the Tear Up Festival organised by Eddie Glew of Blithfield Willowcrafts in Staffordshire. The third exhibition will take place at The Harley Gallery in Notthinghamshire, 12th April – 29th June, 2025.
