3rd October 2026.

Penicuik, Midlothian.

During this one day workshop with Hermione Toulson, you will begin to explore the use of Juncus species (eg Soft rush) as a weaving material.

You will learn some of the history of this well utilised material, and how field rushes are harvested, processed and prepared for weaving. We will focus on creating a number of brushes of different designs, and other small projects such as a rattle, but there will also be an opportunity to explore other ways of working with this material.

The workshop is suitable for beginners, and those with some basket weaving experience.

The workshop will take place at Hermione’s home studio in Penicuik, Midlothian.
